68 Spirituality Studies 11-1 Spring 2025 5 Conclusions The present study examined to what extent the dimensions (religiosity, positive and negative self-esteem, and purpose of life) establish significant relationships and what type of cause-effect relationship is found among them. The results showed that both religiosity and self-esteem are significant predictors of purpose in life. Thus, the value of initiating counseling and educational initiatives that help people improve their self-esteem by cultivating a stronger sense of purpose in life is reinforced. Regarding the final reflection of the present work, it could be noted that religious practices impact positive self-esteem and purpose in life. In addition, positive self-esteem influences life purpose, whereas negative self-esteem does not. With respect to the mediated relationship, the connection between religiosity and life purpose is mediated by negative self-esteem. Therefore, if the goal is to get people with negative self-esteem to develop a purpose in life, these data indicate that religiosity could be worked on. This may lead to the conclusion that it is essential to promote, especially at early ages, religious actions that contribute to human development. In this sense, it seems logical to think that if we work on religious practices, people will show a better valuation of themselves and will mark their purpose in life more clearly. In summary, these findings manifest the connection between religious beliefs, self-perception, and life purpose, inviting the reader to dwell on a reflective approach on how aspects related to values and/or beliefs could influence the emotional and psychological elements of the individual.
